His ultimate goal is to become a priest.

MARQUETTE -- St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette celebrated a very special day for one man. Martin Flynn of Manistique was ordained as a transitional deacon on Friday in the Catholic church. His ultimate goal is to become a priest.

In the meantime, Flynn will be working as a deacon at St. Francis de Sales in Manistique.

"Each step of the way, on my journey to the priesthood, deaconate, I was like, "God, I have got to get through this hoop, somehow I have got to get here, and then things would just fall into place perfectly," Flynn said.

Flynn went through six and a half years of schooling to come this far in the Catholic church.
