ISHPEMING -- On Friday morning the spirit of the season came to Ishpeming Salvation Army in the form of a truck load of presents.

The Ishpeming, Negaunee Rotary Club delivered the load as part of their annual Toy Drive.

The collecting of donations started back in November, with businesses and community members all pitching in.

According to the Rotary, the haul of presents is estimated around $3,000.  By skipping an annual pizza party, the Rotary Club was able to expand their resources to benefit 700 kids as opposed to 40 last year.

"Our numbers are up a little bit and so it was more important to make sure we had enough toys for all the kids so we could give every kid a good Christmas," said Stephen Hansen of the Salvation Army.

The Rotary Club and the Salvation Army are open to donations year round.

On January 21 the distribution of the presents will begin.
