NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP -- Many of our own goals are to get home for the holidays, but UPAWS employees say they've got several furry friends with the same hope.
The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter in Negaunee Township says they've got several dogs and cats still up for adoption they'd like to find forever homes for.
On Thursday they hosted an open house with food and refreshments for the community to meet a few animals up for adoption. They offered several discounts on adoption rates, hoping to empty a few cages.
"We don't want them here over the holidays," said Shelter Manager Dayna Kennedy. "We want them in their homes, we want them opening up their own gifts under the tree."
If you missed the open house, you can still take advantage of adoption specials at UPAWS.
They'll be posted almost daily on their website.
