Hit-and-run suspect arrested

ST. IGNACE -- Michigan State Police Troopers from the St. Ignace Post have arrested a 46-year-old female from Moran.

According to a press release, the woman struck Travis McLean of Albuquerque, New Mexico August 14, 2011 on Highway 123 in Brevort Township in Mackinac County.

McLean was walking down the shoulder of the road when he was struck from behind by a small gray vehicle.  The driver of the car got out and looked at McLean lying on the side of the rode, then got back into her car and sped off.

Police received tips after news of the accident was out.

The suspect said she thought she had hit a deer. She has posted $500 cash bond and will appear in 92nd District Court in St. Ignace on December 21 at 9:30 a.m.
