HOUGHTON -- A Hancock man was sentenced in Houghton County Circuit Court Friday on drug charges. Austin Patton, 23, was ordered to serve 60 days in the Houghton County Jail but received credit for 50 days already served. Patton was charged with two counts of delivery and possession of a controlled substance.

"Your honor, through my actions I have learned what regret is, and if the loss of my freedom during these past two months wasn't enough, the pain and the burden that I brought on my family through my actions was. I know now what I did was wrong," said Patton.

He also said he hopes to return to school. The judge told him that he must undergo alcohol and drug testing while on probation for a year.
