IRON MOUNTAIN -- Toys for Tots put together their first Stuff a Blue Goose event on Friday.
A State Police SUV was parked at the Midtown Mall in Iron Mountain and filled with toys. The goal was to get the vehicle filled to the top. They didn't quite meet their goal, but they're hoping that the idea will catch on more next year.
The need for toys is much bigger this year than it was last year, and Toys for Tots is happy to accept any and all donations.
"Last year it was low. This year it appears to be much higher, and we're welcoming all toys and financial donations, and for these toys that we do not get, we purchase, and we purchase them locally and we pass them out to the recipients," said Skip Bilsky of Toys for Tots.
Bilsky had the idea for the Stuff a Blue Goose event about a week ago, and he is thrilled that they were able to put something together so quickly.
