New this year, additional themed shops and parlors for guests to peek in on and watch artisans create their goods.

ESCANABA -- Families in Escanaba got the chance to step back in time for an old-fashioned Christmas in Escanaba this weekend. The 32 annual Christmas in the Village is held by the U.P. Steam and Gas Engine Association.

New this year, additional themed shops and parlors for guests to peek in on and watch artisans create their goods. The man in the big, red suit even made a guest appearance for families.

Admittance to the event was all about remembering those who are less fortunate during the holiday season.

"We try to do this as a community event, and it's more than just a fundraiser, it's a good family event," Ski Dufour, president of the U.P. Steam and Gas Engine Association, said.

"The kids have fun, they can come see Santa Claus and take a sleigh ride, bring in a can of food."

The donated goods will be delivered to a local charity.
