MARQUETTE -- After three applicants underwent consideration for the position, Chief Assistant Prosecutor Matt Wiese has been appointed as Marquette County Prosecutor.
Wiese will become the Prosecuting Attorney for Marquette County on January 1, 2012 and will hold the position until the end of the current term, December 31, 2012.
Gary Walker announced he was leaving office back in November. Under Michigan law, the vacancy is filled by appointment from the circuit judges in the county.
The next election for the Marquette County Prosecutor is November 6, 2012.
