Friends and family helped raise funds for Hilija Spiessl, 29, diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma
MARQUETTE -- Community members came together Tuesday to help raise money and hope for a loved one with cancer.
Hilija Spiessl, 29, of Champion was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma last summer. Hilija's former dance teacher organized the event at the Lakeview Arena in Marquette.
Thirteen local vendors offered a variety of products like jewelry and candles. Proceeds from the event will go toward Hilija's medical treatments.
"She's just a good-spirited, wonderful young lady, very generous," said Dawn Dott, one of the organizers and Hilija's former dance teacher. "I just like Hilija, and I think basically all of us do and just felt the need."
