MANISTIQUE -- There will be no trial for a 21-year-old Manisitique man accused of fatally stabbing his own brother back in March.

Over the weekend, Nicholas Smith pled no contest to second degree murder.  He had faced open murder charges in the death of Michael Peter Clement Smith.

Smith's trial was supposed to begin Monday.  Instead he'll be sentenced on January 19 in Schoolcraft County Circuit Court.

Smith remains in the Schoolcraft County Jail.
