Police searching phone records

MARQUETTE -- The Marquette City Police are still trying to find out who phoned in several bomb threats to Marquette area retailers.  They are now looking through phone records to determine where the calls came from and how many individuals were involved.  They believe the calls were recorded and computer generated.

Phone calls were made to Shopko, Target, Walmart, the Westwood Mall, Kohl's, JC Penny, Econo Foods and the Holiday Inn.  Officials searched all of the stores and did not locate any devices, but the threats caused a major disruption to Black Friday shopping as businesses were evacuated.

"We've already started that process and we'll see if we can generate some leads from that, so it's an ongoing process that doesn't happen in the blink of an eye because we have to go through some channels to receive these documents," said Det. Gordon Warchock of the Marquette City Police.  "It'll take a little bit longer."

Bomb threats are a federal offense, even if they are only prank calls.
