MARQUETTE -- The Upper Peninsula Children's Museum is asking local residents for old phones to update a popular exhibit. The museum is updating their closed circuit phone system that runs throughout the museum.
Children are able to dial a phone from one portion of the museum and talk to other kids at other exhibits.
The museum is asking residents to bring in old corded analog phones as the system doesn't support digital phones.
Museum employees say the phone system is a big hit with the kids and teaches them some important skills.
"They're using their hands, they're learning about communication other than face-to-face, so it's all things that benefit them. But really what it comes down to is it's another thing to play with," said Museum Exhibits Manager, Landon Stelwagen.
You can drop off any corded, analog phones you may have at the main desk in children's museum located on Baraga Avenue.
