IRON MOUNTAIN -- The Iron Mountain VA Medical Center is almost finished with an addition to its outpatient facility.  Construction started on the six million dollar project in March with the addition of a second floor to the existing outpatient facility.  Renovations to the first floor began in July.

Since the original facility has been closed, things have been more hectic than usual at the hospital.  Clinics and check-in points have been scattered all across the hospital.

“I want to give kudos to our volunteers at the facility.  They did a great job of providing support to patients, additional way-finding, and escorts to get patients to the right clinics,” said Adam Steinbrecher, the project engineer.

Once the new outpatient addition is up and running at the end of January, things should calm down at the hospital.

The additions will ensure better patient care and comfort, as well as provide better safety and privacy to U.P. veterans.
