MANISTIQUE -- A fire in Manistique left a house heavily damaged Sunday afternoon. Manistique Public Safety responded to the house shortly after 3 p.m. after a passerby saw flames coming out of the house.
Firefighters were able to rescue a dog that was in the house and extinguish the fire in the kitchen and attic.
The house suffered severe damage. No one was home at the time. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
Assisting on the scene were Hiawatha Township Fire Department, Michigan State Police, Sault Tribal Police, and the Schoolcraft County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
