If you would like to volunteer your time this holiday season, simply contact your local Salvation Army to set up a time

MARQUETTE -- For many of us, the Salvation Army bell ringers are a holiday tradition, and this year you could be part of that tradition.

The Salvation Army is sending out the call to Marquette residents to help ring the bells and collect donations for the holidays. The average bell ringer donates about two hours at one of the dozen locations in the area.

Organizers say bell ringing is a great activity for families, friends and coworkers to get together and help their community.

"We're always looking for volunteers, and volunteers are what keeps the Salvation Army moving and going strong, and we take pride in our volunteers so we're always looking for volunteers," said Captain Joel Arthur.

If you would like to volunteer your time this holiday season, simply contact your local Salvation Army to set up a time. If bell ringing isn't your thing, they can always use a hand in a number of other volunteer positions.
