MUNISING -- On Thursday, the Canadian man, suspected of an attempted abduction of a minor, was in Alger County court.

Mohamed El Fectali, a 40-year-old Moroccan-born Canadian citizen, allegedly attempted to abduct a 12-year-old Munising girl.

The victim gave her account of the incident while the detective that questioned the suspect stated Fectali eventually confessed that he spoke to the girl, hoping it would result in a sexual encounter.

The defense maintained Fectali was simply asking for directions and was offering the girl a ride home.

Judge Mark Luoma determined there was sufficient evidence to bind Fectali to circuit court on counts of attempted kidnapping and inducing a minor into an immoral act.

Fectali will be arraigned in circuit court on Monday.
