SAWYER -- A new aviation company could mean 100 new jobs in Sawyer.  The unnamed aviation company working with the Upper Michigan Green Aviation Coalition has been searching for an area in which to expand in the Midwest.

The company recently expressed interest in available property at Sawyer International Airport through Telkite Enterprises.  This could bring 100 new jobs that could benefit the county.

"The company plans to create 100 new jobs over the first two years," said Telkite Executive Director Vikki Kulju.  "How that's wrapped up, we're not quite sure yet.  It will depend largely on the abilities of the workforce that we have, how long it will take to get them trained."

Wages for these new hires can be up to $1,200 a week.  The aviation company could move in soon, however, any deal would need to be approved by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and Forsyth Township for it to happen.
