ESCANABA -- November is National Alzheimer's Awareness Month, and Super One Foods in Escanaba is helping raise money to help beat the disease.
Perspectives Adult Care Center is supplying them with paper forget-me-nots. For the first two weeks in November, people can donate one dollar and write their name or the name of a loved one with Alzheimer's.
Perspectives Supervisor Randy Daigneault said about 75 percent of the adults at the facility have some form of dementia. They participate in social activities to stimulate their minds and keep them active.
"You want to try to stimulate the mind as much as possible," said Daigneault. "Keep the hands, the mind, very busy, and just socialize wherever you can. It's so important to get out and be doing things to keep that mind busy."
Perspectives will hold an open house on November 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. to raise public awareness about what their facility does.
