CHRISTMAS -- An Alger County casino is providing customers with fun along with a chance to feed a hungry neighbor this holiday season.

The Kewadin Casino in Christmas is holding a can drive to help fill local food pantries.  Customers can bring in three non-perishable foods items to receive five dollars in Kewadin credits.

Players can bring in goods every day until the campaign ends December 1.

The casino has tried different events to collect goods throughout the years but decided to try this program when it was well received in their Manistique Casino last year.

Casino employees say they've already seen several people bring items so far.

"I think once the word gets out a little more, it will get bigger and bigger, so hopefully we'll have a very good batch of food to deliver," said Casino Assistant Manager, Todd Masters.

The food collected throughout the month will be split between two food pantries in Alger County.

The Kewadin Casino in Manistique is also offering this deal.
