MARQUETTE -- Scouts had the opportunity to use NMU's facilities to earn merit badges Saturday at the Jacobetti Center.  Dozens of scouts participated in the event, including Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and even Girl Scouts.

After some prep work beforehand, scouts came with the intention of earning their badges before the day was done.

"We work off of the scout oath and law which have been around for over 100 years," said Scout College Coordinator Mark Matteson.  "We just try to instill all of those qualities in the youth as they're having fun and getting to go do things that they might not do normally, and get them prepared for life."

Some examples of merit badges taught included electronics and robotics.

This year celebrates the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts.
