GRAND RAPIDS (AP) -- A squirrel is being blamed for knocking out electrical service to about 10,000 customers in the Grand Rapids area.

Consumers Energy says the squirrel died after getting into a piece of equipment at a Grand Rapids substation and knocking out power on Tuesday.

The subsidiary of Jackson-based CMS Energy Corp. says power was restored later in the day.

Parts of Marquette lost power in a similar squirrel incident in September.
