A silent auction and a dinner outlined the event for dozens who went.

MARQUETTE -- The Women's Center in Marquette hosted its annual fundraiser Saturday night. The evening of elegance brought dozens of people to the Landmark Inn in Marquette.

An evening of a gourmet dinner, music, and a silent auction outlined the event. All benefits go toward the center in hopes to raise awareness of domestic violence.

"This is something that goes on all the time that a lot of people aren't aware of or don't want to talk about, and it is critical for families and for future generations that we try to resolve and solve the issue of domestic violence against women," Martha Parks, president of the Women's Center, said.

Several paintings from a local artist were also donated for the auction, as well as goodies from local businesses.
