HANCOCK -- The City of Hancock received its final salt shipment for the winter season.

It took about three hours to unload and the salt will go to the five western counties in the U.P. and it will take about 4 weeks to haul the entire shipment.

This is second load of salt that came in for the year.

The first load brought in about 18,000 tons and this one had about 7,500 tons on it.

The shipment was about a month late on arriving because of a bad tornado down in Goodrich, Ontario where the salt comes from.

The salt will either be mixed with sand or put down pure.  The highway department and the local county road commission will use the salt to treat the roads for winter maintenance.
