MARQUETTE COUNTY -- Peter Dishnow was sworn in on Friday as the new Clerk of Marquette County.

Dishnow was officially sworn in by Judge Jennifer Mazzuchi at a ceremony in the Marquette County Circuit Courtroom before his family, friends, and co-workers.

Dishnow replaces Connie Branam who held the position since 2003.  The new clerk is a graduate from Ishpeming High School and Northern Michigan University.

Dishnow previously held the position of election specialist for the Michigan Bureau of Elections for over 20 years.

"I'm following an excellent county clerk in Connie Branam, she set the standard pretty high, however, she is leaving me an excellent staff that know exactly what they're doing and, quite frankly, I'm going to learn a lot from them," said Dishnow.

Dishnow also hopes to bring his election knowledge to his new position.
