ISHPEMING -- If you've ever carved pumpkins then you know how much of a mess they can make, but now you can enjoy the fun of carving without all of the mess at home, and for a good cause.
On Friday, October 28, N.M.U students will put on a pumpkin carving event in Ishpeming. After kids bring their own pumpkin, for a suggested three dollar donation, they can carve it using stencils designed to support any carving skill level.
"We just really want to make an impact in our community," said Northern Michigan University student Anna Solberg. "Most of us, who are affected by people in our families who had cancer and have passed away from cancer, are hoping to bring it to the whole community and make sure that everyone is aware of what's going on. And hopefully everyone can make an impact."
The event will be held at Miners Park in Negaunee from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. There will also be a bake sale and other games and activities.
