MARQUETTE -- There was a fire at the Marquette Branch Prison just after noon on Tuesday.

According to a prison official, the maintenance department at Marquette Branch was working on plumbing in the minimum security housing unit, when some insulation started smoldering.

Precautions were taken and the 30 inmates in the unit evacuated.  Marquette firefighters were able to get to the fire in the wall and attic.  Nobody was injured in the incident.
