GLADSTONE -- More details are being released regarding the case of a 23-year-old Gladstone man who allegedly abused a 4-year-old boy last Friday.

Allen Joseph Brunette is charged with two counts of child abuse and a third count of domestic violence, third offense.

According to officials, the four-year-old boy was assaulted by Brunette, his mother's live-in boyfriend.  The incident took place at a Gladstone residence when the boy's mother was at work overnight.

Last Friday the child was transferred to Marquette General Hospital.  He was released on Sunday and went home with his mother.

"Well, our officers are working with the Department of Human Services to make sure that everything is okay with the family," said Delta County Sheriff Gary Ballweg.  "Injuries are going to come out during the preliminary exam as far as what they were.  These were head injuries among other internal injuries."

Brunette remains lodged in the Delta County Jail with a $15,000 cash bond.  There is no date set yet for his preliminary exam in District Court.
