NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP -- A cyclist took on a challenge to bike from Florida back to his hometown region in the U.P., and he did it in 14 days!

Randy Jackson says he first made the trip when he was 22 years old.   It took him almost 20 days to complete the challenege back then.

Now at age 50, he says a lot has changed on the roads since he first biked the 1,300 miles from Pensacola, Florida to Ironwood.  But he says his inspiration was well worth it.

"This was the right time.  I was inspired by my son--he's now 22, at the exact same age I first did this trip--and everything lined up, and I figured if I don't do it now, it may not ever happen, and I need to go for it," said Jackson.

Jackson says he plans on repeating the ride sometime in the future.
