MARQUETTE -- The Negaunee woman who embezzled tens of thousands of dollars from Anthony Automotive in Marquette was sentenced Friday.  Annette Cox received two years probation.

Steve Anthony, owner of Anthony Automotive, was also in court and expressed frustration over Cox not receiving jail time.

The exact amount she embezzled remains unclear, but Judge Thomas Solka said it far exceeded the $10,000 she admitted stealing.

"What's more important than that, Mrs. Cox, is getting you to accept some kind of responsibility for what you've done," said Judge Solka.  "In this court's judgment, that involves a monthly reminder that you stole from somebody else and you have to pay something back, each and every month."

In addition to her probation, Cox has been ordered to pay $50 a month to Anthony for damages.

Citing medical issues and financial hardship, Cox said she is unable to pay restitution.
