MARQUETTE -- We Energies officials say their Presque Isle Power Plant in Marquette could be in danger of shutting down.

They say the plant will likely not be able to meet EPA air regulations by 2017-2018 and could be forced to close.

The company is currently making plans to increase transmission capabilities to make up for the loss of the plant.

Officials emphasize it is possible the air regulations may be altered to allow the plant to continue operation but says plans must be in place now if the plant closes.
