MARQUETTE -- In this tough economic climate, paid work can be hard to come by, especially for recent college graduates.
Hundreds of Northern Michigan University students made the rounds at the school's annual career fair Wednesday afternoon.
Over 50 employers from fields ranging from health care to insurance set up shop to recruit.
Even with career fairs like this, students say they're nervous about their career prospects.
"I think it's hard because you know that you have student bills to pay, you have rent to pay, tuition, you need a job to support yourself," said NMU senior Jordan Wyers. "Especially now, families can't help as much, so students have to depend on themselves for jobs."
Among the qualities employers say they look for in a candidate: a good personality, work experience, and a solid GPA.
Officials from career services say the number of jobs available to students hasn't improved from last year, but it hasn't gotten worse.
