NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP -- The official school counts are in, and the numbers will help determine the funding they get from the state.

School districts started releasing the official numbers on Wednesday, and we have some of the results.

Negaunee was one school that saw a gain this year--up 68 students over the last count.  Marquette did not see the same growth, losing 25 students in this year's count.

Kingsford and Newberry also lost students this year, losing 10 students each.  Ontonagon lost 62 students.  Iron Mountain is also in the negative category, dropping by 44 over last year.

Houghton gained 72 students since last fall, bringing the total to 1,331.  Hancock also saw an increase, gaining 25 students over the previous year.

We will have an update when more numbers come in from Upper Peninsula schools.
