BURT TOWNSHIP -- Burt Township Supervisor Jack Hubbard has announced his plans of candidacy for the 109th District Representative seat.  He plans to run on the Republican ticket.

The seat is currently held by Democrat Steve Lindberg of Marquette, whose term expires in 2012.

Hubbard was a key figure in securing funding for the Grand Marais breakwater project.  He says his work in Burt Township encouraged him to run to help get legislative results for other communities.

Marquette's mayor, John Kivela, also announced plans to run for the 109th District office in late August.
