Marquette motorists will see some slight inconveniences next week as the city makes some repairs to a couple major roadways

MARQUETTE -- Beginning Sunday evening, Third Street from Arch to Crescent will be closed, with more sections of Third Street, down to Fair Avenue, closing Tuesday and Wednesday.

McClellan Avenue will also be closed from US-41 to Washington Street beginning Tuesday night until Thursday.

The closures are for milling and repaving.

"We're picking a good time to catch it right now before we have to do a complete reconstruction.  I think residents will; there's going to be a little bit of an inconvenience, but once that's all said and done, we won't have to worry about it for another 10 or 15 years," says city engineer Keith Whittington.

City crews will work at night to minimize interruption of traffic on these busy streets during the day.
