NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP -- Last year he lost his campaign for Michigan's 1st Congressional District to Republican Dan Benishek, but Democrat Gary McDowell has announced that he's going to give it another try.
McDowell says he's willing to work across the aisle to get things done, something he says Congressman Benishek has not done well. He also says Benishek has made some serious mistakes by not paying attention to the common middle class American.
"There's nobody looking out for the average worker, the middle class," said McDowell. "Dan Benishek went to Congress and quickly became the problem when he voted to end Medicare, not to protect social security, and also the one example of voting to close seven airports in northern Michigan. That shows his priorities are wrong."
