HOUGHTON -- MTEC Smartzone CEO Carlton Crothers declined to comment any further regarding reasons for his resignation on Tuesday, but he did state in a press release that he is leaving to pursue other opportunities.
Crothers served as CEO for Michigan Tech's Enterprise Corporation for five years. During that time he led the expansion of the Smartzone's business incubator facilities in Houghton and Hancock.
He also helped recruit tenants for those facilities, including GE Aviation and Ford. The company has temporarily contracted Marilyn Clark, who has been a consultant to Smartzone, until a new CEO is named.
