HANCOCK -- A different way of earning credits toward a degree is now an option at Finlandia University and Michigan Tech.
The schools are among six in the U.P. that offer a reverse transfer option for students.
Under the initiative, students will be able to add an associate degree to their education by transferring credits earned toward their bachelor's degree.
The option will allow students to enter the work force with an associate degree while in the process of earning higher education.
"We're more familiar with forwarding our credits to earn a bachelors degree," said Finlandia University President Dr. Philip Johnson. "This agreement allows them to reverse the credits and receive a yet unearned associate degree while they're pursuing their bachelors."
There are eligibility requirements for transfer and current students. Those interested should contact the school's registrar office.
