INWOOD TOWNSHIP -- Four illegal aliens were detained by deputies in the Hiawatha National Forest in Inwood Township on Sunday.  They were discovered during a routine ORV stop, and Schoolcraft Deputies assisted the Michigan State Police in the arrest.

The Schoolcraft County Sheriff's Office has beefed up patrols on trails and county roads throughout the area.

The increase in manpower was made possible through a Michigan Department of Natural Resources ORV law enforcement grant.

So far this year, the patrols have led to 27 citations ranging from operating with a suspended license to speeding.
