The 2nd annual Celtic Festival kicked off at the Houghton County Fairgrounds in Hancock Friday afternoon.
HANCOCK -- If you go to the Celtic Festival, you can expect to see athletes dress the part as they compete in the traditional Highland Games.
Competitions include the stone put, a 16-pound stone thrown for distance.
And the Caber Toss, where athletes throw a 15 to 20 pound pole that has to land straight.
Bag pipes, dancers, and open mic night are also highlights this evening.
"We're honoring the tradition of the Scottish, Irish, Welsh, Cornish people the first people who came here to the Keweenaw to open the copper mines and moved on from there, this is great for families we've got vendors we've got food," says Celtic Quarter President Randy McClellan.
The festival is expected to go on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.
