ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP -- Wednesday was the last of a series of public meetings about the proposed County Road 595 project.
The new route would connect Rio Tinto's Eagle Mine to the Humboldt Mill.
At the Ishpeming Township meeting, over 30 concerned residents asked road commission officials about how the road would impact them. They had the chance to voice their opinions and make suggestions which will be taken into consideration when the road commission meets on September 19 to make their final recommendation.
"I'd prefer it if they didn't build it there because I have a camp and 80 acres up in that area, and our serenity will be destroyed. On the other hand, I can understand the need for employment and the economic development of that area," said Jeff Baldini of Ishpeming Township.
Those who didn't have a chance to attend any of the public meetings can contact the road commission via e-mail with comments to lbrogan@marqroad.org.
