MARQUETTE -- A 17-year-old Gwinn girl, identified as Katherine Scarlet O'Brien, fell from a cliff on Presque Isle on Tuesday, around 11:30 a.m.  She fell to the rocks 80 to 100 feet below the cliffs located 30 feet from the observation deck on Presque Isle, according to authorities.

Marquette City Fire was on the scene first and rappelled down the cliff to stabilize and speak with O'Brien until medical technicians arrived.  Emergency medical personnel were brought to the cliffs by a U.S. Coast Guard boat to retrieve her.

She was taken to Marquette General Hospital to be treated for injuries received.  Her condition has not been released.

We will post an update when any further information is released.
