ESCANABA -- Congressman Dan Benishek made a stop at Escanaba's City Hall Monday morning where members of the public voiced budget concerns and comments.

Benishek was asked what he could do to help fix the economy.  He explained that he has voted to cut spending everywhere he could but added that he's frustrated by the Senate's lack of action.

Some expressed concern that he'd voted to extend the Patriot Act, which they referred to as government intrusion.

Still, other people praised Benishek's efforts.

"My support for him is the same," said Manistique resident Raymond Leali.  "I think he supports the issues that I do...a balanced budget amendment, responsible spending, cutting spending as it is now.  I think he is doing a sincere job, the very best he can."

There will be a vote on the balanced budget amendment by the end of the year.
