DELTA COUNTY -- For years it has been known as the Memory Walk, but now the newly named Walk to End Alzheimer's is set for this Saturday at the Civic Center in Escanaba.
It's part of a national movement to raise money and public awareness for Alzheimer's Disease.
All of the funds raised in the different U.P. walking events stay in the U.P. to help support groups and Alzheimer's research.
People can also help by picking up paper forget-me-not flowers and making a donation.
"Seems like a lot of people have a different time understanding what Alzheimer's Disease is all about," said Randy Daigneault of the Delta County Walk. "And we really want to encourage people to get educated about the disease so that if it ever comes among them, or their family and friends, they'll have an idea of what to expect."
Last year around $50,000 was raised from all the U.P. Alzheimer's Disease walks.
