MARQUETTE -- There's been a new addition to the Seafood Fest tradition in Marquette. A "Waterfront Gala" rang in the 28th annual event at Lower Harbor.
This is the first year the Marquette West Rotary is hosting the extra fundraiser to help support Seafood Fest. The event sold out at 250 tickets, raising nearly $18,000 for the Rotary.
The dinner featured live music and a surf and turf buffet for guests.
"It seems like with the cost of things, the profits have gotten smaller every year, and so we're just trying to change it up and see if we can maximize our potential for the funds we give to the community," said Christine Pesola of the Marquettte West Rotary.
In the 27 years of Seafood Fest, $500,000 has been raised for non-profits in the Marquette area.
