ONTONAGON -- A possible tornado swept through the city of Ontonagon earlier this morning.

The report came in at 8:05 a.m. EDT from DPW workers who witnessed trees uprooted, a power pole snapped, and a camper thrown across a street.

It also picked up water as it moved through the area.  No structural damage or injuries have been reported at this time.

Several reports of hail, high winds, and some tree damage have come in across the Upper Peninsula as a line of strong storms erupted ahead of a cold front.

TV6 Houghton Bureau reporter Ana Simovska will have the full report tonight.  That will include the official storm assessment from the National Weather Service office in Marquette, which is headed out there this afternoon to determine if it was, in fact, a tornado as opposed to straight-line winds or a gustnado.

You can stay up-to-date on our weather page and on Facebook (here or here) through the day, as more storms are yet possible.
