MARQUETTE -- He says he's biking across the country to make a difference.
Brian Phelps traveled through Marquette Thursday as part of his trip to raise money to benefit cancer patients.
Phelps says the "Silver Generation," an organization that provides wigs for cancer patients, will receive the money raised during his trip.
He says of all the places he's been, the U.P. has created some lasting memories, including nearly hitting a black bear cub.
"The first thing that I realized was the cub's still alive. It's running up the slope and where's the the mommy, where's the mommy?" said Phelps.
Phelps began his trip in Seattle and will finish in Maine.
At the end of his trip, he plans to write a book about his experience and the people he's met.
All proceeds will be donated to cancer research.
