U.P. Overland Annual Run is back
MARQUETTE COUNTY -- Off road adventurers from around the country kicked off the fourth annual U.P. Overland Expedition Thursday in Marquette.
Over 40 people in 22 vehicles will spend the next three days trekking throughout the U.P.
The trip spans a total of 600 miles from Sturgeon River Gorge to the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula, and finishing off at Harlow Lake, in Marquette.
Organizers say the tradition is a great way to introduce people to the U.P. scenery and culture.
"We've sort of built almost a vacation culture out of the group we have that come up," said Tom Dolaskie, Co-Owner of U.P. Overland "This is there number one vacation. We've got a pretty big following of people that come up on their own. That's what we're looking to do, build a sustainable adventure tourism movement."
"I think the biggest thing for me personally is the commitment both Tom and Kristian have for this area," said Indiana resident Hod Hefer. "And were looking forward to every time we come up."
