MARQUETTE -- The long and difficult road to fulfilling requirements to become a law enforcement officer came to a completion Wednesday for 19 U.P. recruits.
Northern Michigan University introduced the graduates of their police academy Wednesday morning. These recruits made it through a rigorous 16-week NMU Regional Police Academy Training School.
In training, they were not only pushed to their physical limit but were required to pass a dozen exams testing their knowledge of the law.
Corey King was selected as the class leader before the academy even began and says this group of recruits has a bright future.
"It was just really easy for me, everything went really smooth. It was just a great class to be a part of," said King.
The next step for most of these recruits is securing a job.
