A project that organizers say took a lot of sweat and tears has been dedicated in Foster City
FOSTER CITY -- It's a 32' x 12' wall that stands in the Foster City Cemetery, dedicated to the fallen in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
Kurt Peronto led the project after his neighbor, S.F.C. Jim Priestap, was killed in action in 2006.
Money for the project was raised through fundraisers, picking up cans and even a few special projects.
Peronto was able to raise $5500 alone just for taking someone up on a bet that he wouldn't cut his hair after almost ten years of growing it out.
"They would figure I wouldn't do it, that was a joke, being a Vietnam Vet, and for something like this, that was a piece of cake," says Peronto.
Individuals are invited to sign the wall and pay their respects to the fallen.
Expansion on the memorial is planned for the future.
