MICHIGAMME -- National Night Out came to Michigamme Thursday evening.
Michigamme and Spurr Township held their first "National Night Out" block party at the downtown community center. The event was a hit as several residents gathered for the festival.
The party had all the necessities such as hot dogs, popcorn and sweets. Also on hand were several emergency vehicles for kids to check out along with the old steam engine.
"It's an opportunity for some of the summer visitors, who have a residence up here, to get together with old friends, get together with family and, again, more on a community involvement or community level," said Marquette County Sheriff's Deputy, Dean Rushford.
The National Night Out program is designed to promote neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships.
